Marni for H&M in Stores & Online - Spring 2012

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Come 8 March 2012, the exciting collaboration between Marni and H&M will be available online and in all 260 H&M stores around the world.

I am awaiting signature (silver!) Marni shoes with wooden blocked heels for a fraction of the price and of course lots of wild and wacky graphical prints in bright colours just in time for the Spring season next year.

Above is a picture taken from The Cut, New York magazine's fashion page.

The Marni for H&M announcement video below will give you a sneak peak into the "colourful but appropriate for office-wear in terms of hemlines and style" fashion-wear and accessories collaborations with a short interview with part Chilean, part Italian, Swiss born Marni fashion label founder Consuelo Castiglioni and H&M creative advisor Margareta Van Den Bosch.

Style Secret: Jil Sander Luxury for Less

Jil Sander Snakeskin trim Aubergine Tall
                                                        Suede Ankle Peep Toe Boots
Retail Price: 500 pounds at Browns Fashion

Dune Purple Triple Platform Tall Suede Ankle Boots
Retail Price: 125 pounds at Dune UK

I couldn't believe my eyes when I happened to stumble upon the a pair of boots similar to Jil Sander's snakeskin trim aubergine tall suede ankle boots.

The bright happy purple adds a lovely pop of colour to the dull winter palette of blacks and neutrals. At almost a fifth of the price of a pair of the Jil Sander boots, this purple pair had to be snagged immediately. Although the Dune purple triple platform suede ankle boots would look less luxe than the Jil Sander boots, it is a certainly more affordable pair with a more playful look to it all thanks to its eye-popping purple.

How can anyone resist this multicoloured candy gemstone studded ├╝ber tall (5 inch) peep toe booties by designer James Price? This Dolce&Gabbana inspired piece which I have wrote about in my previous post in September "Fall Winter Accessory Obssessions" is probably the next closest attainable purchase at around 350USD.

Pair this pair of out-of-this-world candy gemstone platform booties with skinny stretch leather legging pants from Helmut Lang and a swingy cool top and you'll be ready to take on the entire fashion world by storm.

Fall Look of the Day - Cosy Knits and Python Hints by Rebecca Minkoff

Rebecca Minkoff Fall Winter 2011 runway

Rebecca Minkoff was more famous for her handbags than her runway apparels. Now, things are looking to change with the designer trying a bit harder to find her more stylistic side when she presented her Fall Winter 2011 collection at New York Fashion Week. Subtle prints in deep forest green and brown, a slight touch of animality in her fur and python trimmings and daring attempt at a statement piece - a black bodysuit over see-through pants topped with a smart coat.

I would love to see a confident girl pull that daring outfit combo off.

Rebecca Minkoff Fall Winter 2011 runway show

I reccommend you listen to this track by talented Russian trance DJ and producer Yuri Kane as you mute the original soundtrack for the runway and replace it with "The Blizzard & Yuri Kane feat. Relyk - Everything About You (Original Mix)" because fashion and music go together so well like ice-cream and chocolate sprinkles ;)

Donatella Refused Real Women Wearing Any Versace for H&M collection

Donatella Versace disallowed any of her Versace for H&M collection apparel and accessory pieces to be photographed by New York Daily News using real women from New York City who were size 0 to 6.

Despite the models from New York Daily News being young - fresh college graduates and size 0 to 6, they were promptly denied the go-ahead from Versace's publicist as they did not fit the Versace brand's image.

Ironically, this Versace for H&M collection was designed for real women or commonfolk - anyone who loves fashion or casual streetwear.

Daily Mail Fashion Director Liz Jones commented on Versace's decision and said that is was at odds with H&M's usual, democratic approach to fashion.

Liz told MailOnline: 'This is so typical of 99.9 per cent of designers: they only want their clothes worn by the very young and the very thin.

"This is because the clothes are probably not cut well, not in great fabrics, have no corsetry or intricate draping. It takes a better designer with more skill to dress women who have a bit of shape."

H&M is know for bland and boring basic pieces to cater to the masses with the occassional few runway trend pieces or rare occasions of having a few good designs. However, the mass produced quantities oftentimes mean poor quality and ill-fitting apparels or accessories.

This move by Donatella Versace gives me no confidence at all to buy the ill fitting and gaudy designed dresses. Even supermodels Lindsey Wixon and Natasha Poly failed to look great in their leather head wrap and over-coloured black eyes.

Style Secret: Jil Sander over-the-knee thigh-high boots

Look what came in the mail! Ok, my Jil Sander over-the-knee boots came in the mail last week but still, the excitement level has not died out yet.

This pair of classy over-the-knee boots is a winter classic staple to keep warm and snug and give you the understated cool look at the same time. This boots can be worn fold over and hangs loose at the thigh like inverted funnels if you wear them over the knee. The buttery soft leather smells awesome! However, it does not smell as good as a pair of Prada Sports nappa leather goatskin boot. The fit and the calf is a little too tight. For ladies with muscular calves, beware ASH boots as well. The tall boots will give you an extra tight squeeze they may cut off your blood circulation from your calf to the rest of your body after a while!

The annoying thing about leather boots is that after a few incidents of passer-bys' accidental stepping on the tip of your boot, or either you accidentally cut or graze the leather by hitting a rough wall, corner or rocky side-walk you an be sure a whole will start forming on the tip of your lovely leather boots. Otherwise, scars and scratches over time may simply reveal horrible white scratches on your black leather boots.

And if you get a light coloured pair of boots - beige, taupe, cream, white, be prepared for stains and splotches!

Fall Look of the Day - Amanda Seyfried in H&M suit

Amanda Seyfried is one of my favourite Hollywood actresses. Here is Amanda Seyfried at the UK premiere of her latest movie In Time. Amanda is wearing a matching blue blazer and shorts obviously sponsored by H&M. Ms Seyfried has very simple, plain style and her stylists can never put her in a wrong outfit because she looks so gorgeous all the time.
