New York Fashion Week Spring Summer 2014 Runway Review - Day 1
September 5, 2013 New York Fashion Week Day 1
1) VFiles Spring Summer 2014
Few pieces from the VFile Spring Summer 2014 runway collection struck our attention. These first-time designers debuted their collection at New York Fashion Week earlier on Thursday.
This particular menswear combination above caught our attention with an eclectic mix of streetswear, sportswear and cultural accents like the Asian-inspired straw sandals and Scottish tartan print shirt folded up to resemble either an Indian saree, Indonesian sarong or Thai buddhist monk robe.
For the womenswear collection, Besides the Givenchy Bambi T-shirt lookalike and Saint Laurent grunge rock styling, it's streetswear gone bad for the remaining half of the VFiles Spring Summer 2014 runway show with messy combinations that obviously don't work.

2) BCBGMaxAzria Spring Summer 2014
BCBGMaxAzria has always been known for their simple and clean yet sleek cut dresses, skirts, tops, outer-wear and pants. The BCBGMazAzria Spring Summer 2013 runway collection was no exception to this rule with sexy cut-out pants in graphic art-deco prints.
We totally dig the thigh-high split skirt with a peek-a-boo double contrasting graphic print skirt. Colours were kept muted in mostly neutrals and monotone to perfect that sleek formal-wear look and add balance to the arty designs and cuts.
BCBGMaxAzria's Spring Summer 2014 runway accessories such as the lace-up, contrast panel sandals and textured drawstring backpack in snakeskin print add a lovely rugged touch to the elegant and feminine apparel.
Model Yumi Lambert wears an over-sized white shirt-dress with a uniquely cut and contrast colour hem.
3) Red Valentino Spring Summer 2014
Red Valentino is supposedly the younger label of Valentino's main brand and it looks like the designer has been inspired by Elle Fanning wearing her ballerina class outfit out and about complete with a ridiculous tutu. Perhaps Red Valentino's target audience has changed to twelve year olds.
We've seen the ballerina one-piece and tutu from Red Valentino's Spring Summer 2014 presentation and now there's a granny perfect shirt dress with withered grains and flower print. Valentino Garavani is definitely losing his touch on designing pretty red dresses.
